Sam Davenport |

Ms. Davenport is responsible for Hawthorne Residential's operating strategy and portfolio management.

Ms. Davenport has 18 years of experience operating and managing apartment properties. Most recently, Ms. Davenport served as Chief Operating Officer of Steven D. Bell & Company, one of the Southeast's leading diversified real estate investment and management companies. As COO, Ms. Davenport was responsible for overseeing the operation of a portfolio of 230 properties (valued at $5 billion), which included an apartment division (58,000 units) and a senior living division (2,500 units). Additionally, at Bell, Ms. Davenport had direct oversight of the following divisions: Property Management, Accounting, Financial Analysis, Property Improvements, Utility Management, Marketing, Training, Auditing and Information Technology.

Ms. Davenport is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council and maintains the designations of Certified Property Manager, Accredited Residential Manager and Certified Apartment Manager.

Ed Harrington | Principal

Mr. Harrington is responsible for Hawthorne Residential’s investment and operating strategy, investment activities, financial relationships and portfolio management..

Mr. Harrington has over 35 years of experience acquiring, developing, managing and disposing apartments, shopping centers and senior living facilities and has been involved with over $7.5 billion of real estate transactions. Most recently, Mr. Harrington served as President of Steven D. Bell & Company, one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate investment and management companies. During Mr. Harrington’s 18-year tenure, he was an integral part of Bell’s success, growing their portfolio from $700 million to $5 billion (with over 2,600 associates and 230 properties located in 115 cities across 15 states).

Mr. Harrington holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his career he has been involved on a local and national level with many industry and civic groups, including the National Multifamily Housing Council, United Way and Urban Ministries. He is a North Carolina licensed real estate broker, and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Amy Small |

Ms. Small is responsible for managing the operating systems and overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial analysis and asset management of Hawthorne Residential Partners.

Ms. Small has 20 years of experience in the accounting and financial analysis fields, and is proficient in the following areas: general accounting processes and procedures, financial reporting, audit, budgeting, process improvement, cash management, insurance, systems management and integration, and financial analysis.

Most recently, Ms. Small served as Vice President of Financial Analysis and Strategic Initiatives at Steven D. Bell & Company, one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate investment and management companies. During her tenure at Bell, Ms. Small was responsible for reporting, asset management and accounting for the entire Bell apartment portfolio consisting of 230 properties and 58,000 units. Additionally, at Bell, Ms. Small was involved in the annual budgeting process, creating metrics to identify under performing assets, financial training for newly hired managers, analysis and deployment of new systems/processes, and oversight of all aspects of Yardi.

Ms. Small is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance.

Ryan Hanks |

Mr. Hanks is responsible for the acquisitions, dispositions, and business development activities.

Ryan Hanks has over 10 years of real estate experience acquiring, developing and brokering apartment communities and has been involved in over $4.5 billion of real estate transactions. Most recently, Ryan was with Apartment Realty Advisors, the nation’s second largest apartment brokerage firms specializing in the disposition of multifamily communities on behalf of private and institutional investors. Prior to Joining Apartment Realty Advisors Ryan served as Vice President of Development and Acquisitions for Tarragon Corporation, a public company that specialized in the ownership, management, and development of multifamily communities across the Country, and was responsible for sourcing investment and development opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic and South East.

Ryan is a member of the Charlotte Apartment Association (CAA), Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), and the Center for Transit Oriented Development (CTOD). Ryan received his B.S. in Business Management from Liberty University. Ryan is also a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina and Florida.
